Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) First Amendment Regulations, 2021

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 04, 2021 has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) First Amendment Regulations, 2021 to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
The following amendments have been made:
• Regulation 2.4.2(1), which specifies the standards of refined flour (maida), has been substituted, namely:
“Maida (Refined wheat flour) means the product obtained from the clean grains of wheat by grinding or milling processes in which the bran and germ are essentially removed, and the remainder is comminute to a suitable degree of fineness. It shall be free from abnormal flavours, odours, living insects, filth (impurities of animal origin including dead insects).”
