Industry Specific Compliance

The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) on September 14, 2020 has issued a direction regarding the extension of the timeline for compliance of sub-regulation 3(9) relating to printing inks for use on food packages under the Food Safety and Standard (Packaging) Regulations, 2018 (FSS).

The Food Business Operators (FBOs) were facing difficulties in the immediate implementation of the revised standards, referred in FSS Regulations for mandatory compliance. Thus, considering the difficulties faced by FBOs shall ensure the compliance by either January 1st or July 1st as the case may be subject to a minimum of 180 days transaction period from the date of publication of such standards by BIS.
