TSPCB directs all marriage places or restaurants or hotels or motels or banquets to comply with environmental norms

The Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) on January 07, 2020, directs all marriage places or restaurants or hotels or motels or banquets etc. to comply with the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 for protection of environment .

Whereas, such places will have to abide by the environmental norms of noise pollution, water and air pollutions, solid waste management, installation of CCTV Cameras, Sewage/Effluent treatment, restriction of congregation of persons, extraction of ground water, ground water recharging, prevention of illegal parking and encroachments, etc.

Therefore, it is necessary for every marriage places or restaurants or hotels or motels or banquets etc. to seek consent for establishment and operation of any of these units in any part of the Tripura State from TSPCB. Further, violation of the environmental norms, will attract suitable penalty and environmental compensation cost from the offenders as per the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
